Uri: Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) Chairman and Member of Parliament from North Kashmir, Engineer Rashid, addressed large gatherings at Sheri, Boniyar, Chandanwari and Uri as part of his campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in the Uri constituency. During his speeches, Er Rashid highlighted the neglect faced by the people of Uri, despite the region’s significant contributions to the country.
Speaking on the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), Er Rashid said, “The time has come to make NHPC accountable. The people of Uri deserve to know where NHPC has spent its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. Despite supplying electricity to the rest of the country, the residents of Uri are left in darkness.” He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability regarding the utilization of NHPC’s CSR funds in the region.
Er Rashid also promised to prioritize local development, pledging to construct a sports stadium in Uri. He urged authorities in the Geology and Mining department to streamline the currently disorganized mining extraction process, highlighting that improvements to roads and infrastructure around mining sites should benefit the local population.
“Despite having the highest walnut production in Uri, there is no walnut processing unit here. This is a failure of successive governments, and we will work to establish such facilities,” he added, stressing the importance of local economic development.
In a call to action, Er Rashid urged the people to vote for AIP candidate Engineer Muneer Ahmad Khan, asking them to support him by pressing the “pressure cooker” election symbol. AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi was also present on the occasion, rallying support for the party’s vision of accountability and progress in Uri.
The gatherings across the Uri constituency showcased Er Rashid’s growing support and his commitment to addressing the long-standing issues faced by the people of the region.
