Says no forecast of major wet spell for next one week
Srinagar: As the hot and humid weather conditions continued during the ongoing month, the weatherman here has predicted light rainfall tonight, saying that there is no forecast of any major wet spell for the next one week.
Talking to KNO, Director Meteorological department (MeT), Sonum Lotus said that the ongoing dry spell would likely continue for the next one week.
However, he said that there is a possibility of light rainfall at isolated places in Jammu & Kashmir tonight.
Lotus added that there is no forecast of any major wet spell during the next one week.
The ongoing dry spell has brought down the percentage of precipitation level as the Union Territory in the ongoing season from June 01 2023 to August 16 2023 has recorded minus 2 percent departure from normal rainfall, the data prepared by the MeT here reads.
Poonch and Shopian districts of J&K have recorded deficient rainfall of 28 per cent and 43 per cent respectively during the ongoing season.
In Kishtwar, large deficient rainfall of 69 per cent was recorded till August 16, 2023, the MeT data reveals.
Nonetheless, Srinagar and Doda district of the Union Territory have recorded a large excess rainfall of 65 and 66 per cent respectively, it added.
