UT CM Omar Abdullah Inaugurates First Ever Bridge In Kangan After Becoming CM of J&K

Historic Milestone For Several Villages Infrastructure Development

KANGAN: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated a bridge for the first time since taking office as the Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Approval for the bridge over Nallah Sindh in Akhal Kangan was granted in 2008, but construction did not begin until August 2012. It was eventually completed in 2024, after several missed deadlines and being classified as a languishing project.

The foundation stone was laid on August 4, 2012, by the then Minister for Forests, Wildlife, Environment, and Ecology, Mian Altaf Ahmad.

The 82-meter-long bridge was handed over to the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department from the executing agency JKPCC in March 2024. Remarkably, within just a few months, this steel truss bridge was finished, bringing joy to the local residents.

The community expressed their appreciation for the R&B Department’s efforts, particularly acknowledging the hard work of the Executive Engineer of the R&B Division Kangan, the Assistant Executive Engineer, and the Junior Engineer involved, who dedicated themselves day and night to complete this vital bridge within the stipulated timeframe.

During the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister was accompanied by MLA Kangan Mian Mehar Ali, Chief Engineer R&B Sajad Ahmad Naqeeb, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Mr. Jatin Kishore, SSP Ganderbal Ragav S, and DDC Kangan Tasmeena Adil Kapra.
