Students back to schools after 95 days winter vacations

‘Many schools decorated to welcome students’

 

Srinagar: Donning uniforms, school students’ of Kashmir valley Monday returned to educational institutions after a winter break of over two months.

 

Barring a few places in frontier district Kupwara, the schools across Kashmir valley welcomed the students with a celebration day.

 

KNO spoke to some of the students who looked joyous over the resumption of classes.

 

“Winter vacations are always a good experiment but students can grasp the lectures more properly in offline classes,” Sabreen, a school student said.

 

She said staying at home continuously for nearly a three months has make her lazy. “But the resumption of physical academic activities have brought joy among the students.”

 

Meanwhile, another student Nadeem Iqbal said that he was impatiently waiting for schools to reopen so that he could meet his friends and attend classes and appear in annual exams.

 

Pertinently, the government in December-2023 had had ordered closure of schools in a phased manner in Kashmir division from November-28-2023 to February-29-2024.

 

For primary level classes’ upto 8th standard, the vacations were announced from November-28 to February-29-2024 and from 9th standard onwards upto 12th standard, the vacations were announced from December-11 to February-29-2024 respectively.

 

DSEK had ordered that the teaching staff to report back to their respective schools on February-21-2024, so that they remain available for making arrangements regarding preparation of ensuing examinations.

 

On February-29, the government said that the schools in Kashmir division shall commence class work from March-04 instead of March-01 in view of inclement weather.
