DGP Sh R.R Swain listens the grievances of people at PHQ Srinagar
The grievances redressal programme launched by DGP J&K Sh R R Swain took off today at Police Headquarters PeerBagh Srinagar.This initiative has been taken to look into the difficulties and listen to the grievances of common citizens.
The grievance redressal programme witnessed a huge participation of people from different strata of the society.
The DGP listened to each grievance very patiently and informed them that due action wherever necessary or whatever redressal possible will be ensured.
The DGP said that this is an opportunity, and we gave opened a window for the people who have genuine grievances, they can approach PHQ between the given time schedule for their redressal at Srinagar and Jammu.
He said that grievances must be genuine and all the available redressal platforms must have been used before bringing issues into the notice of the DGP adding that those who are bringing up a grievance based on false information are liable for action against them as well. He impressed upon the people on this occasion to put forward the grievances which are within the ambits of set laws, rules and procedures. He exhorted that such people oriented programmes are for solving genuine problems of the people.
Speaking to the media, about the programme he said that it is a new effort and such programmes have a message value to connect with the people. He said that I am sure such a programme will have substantive results and I would come to know about different categories of grievances & complaints that have effects on police administration. Some grievances are supposed to be redressed instantly while some have to be examined. Our efforts will be to refine such programmes adding that any grievance redressal mechanism in place is successful only with the follow up of the issues. Jammu and Kashmir Police has a system of addressing grievances, our efforts will be to strengthen the system with more transparency. All grievances/issues which are related to the police organisation would be redressed on priority. Referring to a question the DGP said that it should be joint community efforts of all including parents, schools, religious teachers, & friends to watch the activities and advise misguided youth that why is he falling prey to the terror handlers from across the border adding that joint community effort will definitely save many lives. He said that all security establishments that include J&K Police and other role partners are working towards the mechanism to stop the terror recruitment at the first point itself. Our efforts will be to cut off all means between misguided youth and those sitting across the border who are trying to lure our youth by giving money or instigating them to join terror ranks in a planned and sustained way to save our youth. We will fight a war against the terror recruitment, every terror recruitment will be taken alas terror act and who ever falls prey to that will be a victim at that time who turns offender later on adding that people who facilitate or helps youth to join the terror ranks will be liable for the act and their will sustained action against such people.
Regarding narco terrorism, the DGP said that in a planned manner narcotics are being sent from across the border to raise funds from the people by selling them poison which is unacceptable adding that whoever is found involved in narco trade will not be spared.
Pertinent to mention that, on learning that common citizens are facing difficulties while approaching PHQ to meet the DGP without prior appointment as grievance redressal seekers and many have raised concern over lack of clarity about the procedure and date & time, the DGP J&K decided that on every 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month at PHQ Jammu while 1st & 3rd Saturday of every month at PHQ Srinagar would be reserved for meeting people who have grievances pertaining to Police administration. The timing for grievance redressal programmes would be from 1400 hrs to 1600 hrs (two hours) on all Saturdays.
Further it was requested that the complainant or person seeking redressal of grievance were advised to come with a written statement or application. Moreover, it was also requested that complainant or redressal seekers should approach officers of concerned police units who have mandate to redress such grievances.
Furthermore, citizens were informed that if for reasons arising out of unavoidable engagements, a particular scheduled meeting is not possible, advance information through PHQ J&K social media handles will be available to reduce inconvenience to Public.
