KANGAN: In a significant move to educate the public about the newly introduced criminal laws in India, Police Station Kangan organized an awareness program for local residents, students, and business owners.

During the session, senior police officers explained key aspects of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which have replaced the old IPC, CrPC, and Evidence Act, respectively. The officials highlighted major changes in cybercrime laws, stricter punishments for sexual offenses, enhanced protection for women and children, and provisions for community policing.

Locals were encouraged to report crimes through digital platforms and helplines, as the new laws emphasize faster investigations and technology-driven policing. The event aimed to ensure that citizens are aware of their rights and responsibilities under the updated legal framework.

The police assured that similar programs will continue to keep the public informed. Residents appreciated the initiative and urged for regular awareness sessions.
