“Community Outraged by Deliberate Destruction for Morel Mushroom Growth”
By Sheikh Anees
GANDERBAL: A disastrous forest fire has been sweeping through the Gund area for the past three days, posing a significant threat to the region’s environment, wildlife, and ecosystem.
The blaze has sent shockwaves throughout the community, with many social and environmental activists expressing outrage and concern over the destruction.
According to a Forest Department official, who wished to remain anonymous, the fire is not a natural occurrence but rather the result of intentional acts by miscreants and anti-social elements.
These individuals are allegedly setting fires to promote the growth of Morel Mushrooms (Gucci) during the next season.
The motives behind this destructive behavior have been widely condemned by environmentalists, social activists, local residents, Civil Society Gund, and Jamia Awqaf Gund.
“This reckless and destructive behavior poses a significant threat to our environment, wildlife, and ecosystem,” said a social activist. “We cannot allow such irresponsible actions to go unchecked.”
The activist urged concerned officials to take immediate action to address the situation. “We request the authorities to identify these individuals and bring them to justice,” the activist said. “Furthermore, we demand that immediate action be taken to prevent further forest fires and protect our natural resources.”
“A senior social activist and journalist, Beigh Irshad, emphasized that the ongoing forest fire has not only ravaged the environment but also raised concerns about the safety of wildlife.
“The situation demands prompt attention from the authorities to prevent further destruction and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.”
As the community comes together to address this environmental crisis, urgent action is needed to protect the region’s natural resources and prevent such devastating events from occurring in the future.”
