An accident was reported on the Srinagar–Leh Highway at Kijpora area of Kangan involving two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK16C/2846 and JK16C/3841. The incident took place when a Swift car (JK16C/2846) was on its way towards Kangan, while a WagonR car (JK16C/3841) was traveling towards Ganderbal from the opposite direction.
According to initial reports, the two vehicles collided under circumstances that are yet to be fully ascertained. As a result of the collision, both vehicles suffered considerable damage. However, in a relief for all concerned, no loss of life or injuries were reported in the accident.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, the Station House Officer (SHO) Kangan rushed to the spot along with police personnel.
The traffic movement on the busy Srinagar–Leh Highway was temporarily affected, but was later restored after necessary clearance and on-spot assessment.
Police have taken cognizance of the matter and investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.
