4.2 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: An earthquake 4.2 magnitude struck Jammu and Kashmir on friday afternoon.

 

The earthquake’s epicenter was located in Baramulla at coordinates 34.32°N, 74.41°E, with a depth of 5 kilometers at 12:26 p.m. , according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

 

Officials reported the estimated energy release of the earthquake to be 1.3 x 10^11 joules, equivalent to 35 megawatt hours or 30.1 tons of TNT. No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been confirmed.
