Family Left Without Power for Days; AEE Kangan Assures Inquiry After Valley Online Intervention
KANGAN: A resident of Wudder area in Kangan, Ganderbal, has accused the Power Development Department (PDD) of disconnecting his electricity supply despite allegedly paying his bill in advance.
Speaking to Valley Online News, Zahoor Ahmad claimed that his family was forced to live without electricity for several days, even though he had already cleared his electricity dues.
According to Zahoor, the family initially believed that a transformer fault had caused the power outage. However, they later discovered that their electricity connection had allegedly been disconnected by the department.
“I paid my electricity bill in advance, yet my family was left without electricity for days,” Zahoor alleged, questioning why his connection was disconnected while other households in the locality continued receiving power.
Seeking clarification, a Valley Online News reporter made several attempts to contact the concerned PDD inspector. However, the official did not respond to repeated phone calls.
The reporter subsequently contacted Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Kangan, Farooq Ahmad Raina, and brought the complaint to his attention.
The AEE reportedly assured that the matter would be examined and requested the consumer’s bill payment details for verification.
The incident has raised an important question: Can a consumer’s electricity connection be disconnected despite advance payment, and what verification is carried out before such action ?
Zahoor Ahmad has urged the concerned authorities to investigate the matter, clarify the reason for the disconnection and ensure that his family does not face further inconvenience.
Valley Online News has not independently verified the payment and disconnection records. The department’s detailed response is awaited.
Valley Online News will continue to follow the matter.
