SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Handicapped Association on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest at Press Enclave in Srinagar, urging the government to address the long-pending demands and issues faced by persons with disabilities.

Bhat called for the appointment of a Disability Commissioner in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the post was essential for effectively addressing grievances and safeguarding the rights of persons with disabilities.
He also demanded an increase in the monthly disability pension to rupees 20,000–30,000, besides adequate reservation for persons with disabilities in education, employment and other sectors.
