Army’s Major Medical Outreach Brings Lifeline to Remote Anderwan Yarmuqam in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: In a significant humanitarian initiative, the Indian Army organized a large-scale medical camp in the remote area of Anderwan Yarmuqam in Ganderbal district, bringing much-needed healthcare services to a region long deprived of basic medical access.

The medical outreach, conducted by the Army’s Anderwan Camp, witnessed an overwhelming response as thousands of residents from far-flung villages thronged the site to avail free consultation and treatment. For many locals, it marked their first-ever interaction with qualified doctors without undertaking long and difficult journeys.

A dedicated team of Army doctors and medical staff carried out comprehensive health check-ups, diagnosing a wide range of ailments and distributing medicines free of cost. The initiative proved especially beneficial for elderly citizens, women, and children who often remain cut off from regular healthcare due to poor connectivity and lack of infrastructure.

In addition to treatment, the camp also focused on awareness programs. School students were educated on hygiene, sanitation, and basic life-saving skills such as CPR, aiming to build long-term community resilience and preparedness.

Locals expressed heartfelt gratitude for the initiative, describing it as a rare and much-needed intervention in the underserved area.

Alam Din Awan, an elderly resident, said that in his lifetime he had never witnessed such a medical facility being provided in the region. “This is the first time I have seen such a camp in this remote area. Thousands are benefiting, and we are thankful to the Army,” he said.

Army officials reiterated their commitment to continue similar outreach programs, particularly in remote and inaccessible areas, to ensure essential healthcare services reach those most in need.

The initiative stands as a meaningful step toward bridging the healthcare gap in remote parts of the district, where access remains limited and challenges persist.
